Clondalkin Round Tower Centre and The Happy Pear restaurant set to open

The Clondalkin Round Tower Centre and The Happy Pear restaurant and food shop will open this coming Monday (July 3) after months of the development at the historic site.

The much anticipated opening of the €4 million development will coincide with the Clondalkin Festival which also takes place next week.

No detail has been spared for the centre, which will include visual and interactive displays, a monastic garden, a café, a 25-seat terraced dining area, a gallery and craft shop.

Over 40 volunteer tour guides have spent 14 weeks learning skills and improving their knowledge of local history, and tours will be delivered in a range of languages including French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian and as Gaeilge.

The new look centre will be run by The Happy Pear restaurant owners Stephen and David Flynn, who hope to offer a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu with seating for around 60 customers.

Speaking earlier this year, The Happy Pear co-founders and directors said: “This is a really great development and this collaboration is a very exciting move for our business.
